The ski resort of Kitzbühel in Austria, in the Tyrol region, is known for its scenic mountains and slopes, as well as its excellent snow conditions. The resort has 31 lifts that serve over 100 km of runs on three different mountains: Hahnenkamm, Gaislachkogl and Kirchberg.
Kitzbühel offers many amenities, including restaurants, bars and shops throughout town. There’s easy access to the slopes with ski in/ski out and a beautiful sauna at the Hahnenkamm Lodge in Kitzbuhel.

St. Anton am Arlberg – excellent snow conditions and has the longest run in Austria
This famous ski resort gained a reputation as “the most beautiful ski area in the world.” It’s in western Austria, just north of Switzerland and Liechtenstein, and has been a popular tourist destination since it first opened its doors in 1864.
This ski resort provides some of the best skiing conditions in the world, with an annual average snowfall of 6 metres (20 feet). Here you’ll experience over 200 kilometres (125 miles) of trails across 10 mountains with max heights of 2,500 metres (8200 feet).
Like most Austrian ski holidays, there are also plenty of activities besides skiing. St. Anton am Arlberg is known for its après-ski scene with plenty of bars, restaurants and other nightlife options available throughout town.
Lech – charming town with plenty of shops, restaurants and other attractions
Lech is a scenic place to ski in Austria due to its reputation for exceptional snowfall and the beautiful mountains that surround it. The first lift in Lech was built in 1939, and today there are 87 lifts, including gondolas, cable cars, and chairlifts. This opens access to the surrounding mountains for adventure seekers of all levels.
The ski area at Lech is connected to both Warth-Schröcken and St Anton, putting it in the heart of the Arlberg, one of the Alps’ most outstanding ski domains. This region is perfect for skiing, with a seasonal average snowfall of over 7 metres in Lech and 10 metres in Warth-Schröcken and Zürs.
With over 300 kilometres of downhill slopes, the Arlberg is the fifth-biggest connected ski area in the world and the largest in Austria.

- The best time to go skiing in Austria is from December through March. The weather is cold and dry, which means optimal conditions for snowboarding or skiing on the slopes.
- Pack warm clothes you can layer up with as the temperature drops during your trip. Layers are key because they help regulate body temperature while you’re active on the slopes. They also allow you to shed clothing if it gets too hot (or vice versa).
- Wool socks are recommended because they keep feet warm without being too bulky under ski boots.
- Wool hats keep heads warm without being too heavy or uncomfortable under helmets.
- Gloves should be waterproof so water doesn’t seep through when holding poles during downhill runs.
- Goggles protect eyes from windblown snowflakes and UV rays reflecting off of nearby snow surfaces.
